Simonton Glass Railing Systems: The Palm Beach Owner’s Guide

If you have a Simonton glass railing system in Palm Beach and a panel is cracked, a shoe is corroded, or a top rail has worked loose, we stock the replacement components and install them for $380 to $1,150 per section depending on glass thickness, hardware finish, and whether we’re reusing your existing posts. Most single-section swaps are done in one visit. The way owners usually find us is a wobble they can feel when they lean on the rail, or a clouded lamination line in the glass that showed up after a few hurricane seasons.

Palm Beach salt air is hard on railing hardware, and Simonton systems are no exception. The good news is that the extrusion and glass are built to a commercial standard, and with the right replacement parts matched to your series, a railing can be made solid again without replacing the whole run.

Which Simonton Models This Applies To

Simonton’s glass railing program covers several lines, most commonly the Simonton ProFinish Railing, the Simonton Reflections Railing, and the Simonton StormBreaker Railing used in coastal and high-wind builds around Palm Beach. Each series uses a slightly different base shoe profile and glass pocket depth, so a part from one line will not always seat correctly in another. We identify the system by measuring the glass pocket width in the shoe (typically 5/8″ or 3/4″), the top rail inside width, and the post cap profile.

For Simonton specifically, OEM glass panels are tempered and often laminated, and the lamination code is etched in a corner of the pane. We match that code when ordering replacement panels, because a mismatch in tint or thickness is visible from across a patio. For hardware components like base shoes, post caps, and top rail splice kits, we will quote OEM and quality aftermarket equivalents side by side on paper. Sometimes the aftermarket part is the better value; sometimes the OEM profile is the only thing that fits. We tell you which is which before you spend a dollar.

Signs Your Simonton Glass Railing Systems Is Failing

  • Wobble at the top rail. The most common complaint on Palm Beach balconies and pool decks. Usually the set screws in the post caps have backed out or the top rail splice has loosened. Tightening can buy time, but a stripped splice means the rail needs replacement.
  • Clouding or delamination at the glass edge. Laminate breakdown is accelerated by salt exposure and sun. Once the lamination line clouds, the panel can still hold, but it looks wrong and the edges become a weak point.
  • Cracked or chipped glass at a corner. Tempered glass is strong on the face but brittle at the corners. A chip near a drill point or clamp is a replacement situation; tempered glass cannot be cut or repaired.
  • White corrosion or pitting on the aluminum shoe. Palm Beach’s salt air eats anodized aluminum over time. Pitting that has gone through the anodized layer means the shoe loses its grip on the glass and should be swapped.
  • Water staining or mildew where the glass meets the base shoe. Trapped moisture means the drainage channel is blocked or the setting block has rotted. Left alone, it works on the lamination from underneath.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

For a single Simonton-compatible glass railing section in Palm Beach, installed pricing runs $380 to $1,150. At the low end you’re looking at a tempered-only pane with standard mill-finish hardware; at the high end, laminated glass matched to your existing tint, marine-grade hardware in white or bronze, and a post cap or splice kit to make the rail solid again. We write the line items separately: glass, hardware, labor, and disposal of the old section. Nothing is lumped.

Every Simonton glass railing job comes with our Done Right Promise. If the rail does not feel solid or the panel does not look right, we come back and make it right, no paperwork fight. And because Dale Kessler has been setting glass in South Florida for over two decades, the components are matched to the system before the truck rolls.

DIY or Call Us?

An owner can safely check for loose set screws at the post caps and top rail splices. If tightening those removes the wobble, fine. What we would not recommend is pulling a tempered or laminated panel out of its shoe without a second set of hands and the right suction cups. These panels are heavy, and a tempered panel that gets dropped on its corner will burst into a thousand pieces. The same goes for a glass panel that has already cracked; moving it is the dangerous part, not just unpleasant. If the rail is near a pool deck or a second-story balcony, call (850) 801-5596 and let us handle the swap. We bring the panel, the setting blocks, and the suction rig.

What Neighbors Say About TruePane Windows & Doors

★★★★★

"Our bay window had rotted at the sill and two other outfits wanted to talk us into a flat picture window instead. TruePane rebuilt the opening and matched the original look. Neighbors have knocked on the door about it."

GGene A.
★★★★★

"Whole-house window replacement at 71 years old is not something you want to do twice. Dale walked the house himself for the quote. Crew was the same three men all four days, and the foreman knew every window by room."

PPat and Ray L.
★★★★★

"French doors to the patio, custom size because this house was built in 1961 and nothing is standard. Measured twice, three weeks to fabricate like they warned, and the install day they laid runners over my floors without being asked."

MMarie S.
★★★★★

"Impact windows on the whole house. They handled the permit, the inspection, and gave me a folder with every approval number for the insurance company. My windstorm premium dropped enough to notice."

BBill T.
★★★★★

"A casement crank had stripped and the sash was swollen shut. The technician, Ray, fixed the crank on the spot and only then talked about replacement for the three windows that were genuinely done. That is why the whole street uses them now."

EEleanor G.
★★★★

"Quote was the price, which after three other bids that grew legs was worth something. Double-hungs went in clean, they hauled the old ones, and the registration paperwork for the warranty came in the mail like they said."

DDorothy K.
★★★★

"Energy bill was the reason we called. They did not oversell - said the two worst walls of windows would do most of the work and we could stop there. Did those eight with the Low-E glass. August electric bill tells the story."

HHarold W.
★★★★

"Storm door and a new back entry door. Small job, but they treated it like one that mattered. Screws in the hinges are stainless, the sweep actually seals, and the invoice matched the phone quote to the dollar."
