Ply Gem Window Installation in Palm Beach: What to Know First

We install Ply Gem windows throughout Palm Beach, from the older single-family homes in El Cid to the newer construction off Royal Palm Way. Most Ply Gem jobs run one to three days once the windows are on hand, and the honest answer on price is this: a standard insert installation runs $450 to $900 per opening, while full-frame tear-outs with stucco matching start around $1,100 and climb with the size of the unit. This page is for the homeowner who already owns Ply Gem or is deciding on it, and wants the installation done by a shop that knows the product’s quirks. Call (850) 801-5596 and we’ll talk through your openings.

How Ply Gem Products Fail - and How We Fix Them

Every window brand has patterns. Ply Gem is no exception. Here is what we see repeatedly in Palm Beach homes, and how we address it at installation.

  • Premier Series vinyl sashes that bind mid-travel. The Premier Series uses a narrow sash track, and in Palm Beach’s salt air plus summer humidity, the vinyl swells just enough that the sash hangs up. We see it most on west-facing windows that get the afternoon sun. At installation, we set the balance tension differently than factory spec calls for, because the factory does not account for how vinyl behaves at 92 degrees with 80 percent humidity.
  • Builder Series weep holes clogged with salt residue. Ply Gem’s Builder Series is common in Palm Beach condos and townhomes. The weep system is functional but shallow. Ocean-driven salt spray dries inside the track and clogs those channels within a few years. The result is water pooling in the frame base. We clear the weeps properly, then verify drainage before the window goes back in the opening.
  • Pro Series corner welds that open on second-story installs. This is a failure we attribute to handling, not the weld itself. Ply Gem Pro Series frames are rigid, and if a crew cranes a unit up without full support, the frame twists and the corner weld lets go. We measure first, then support the full frame edge-to-edge when we set it. No shortcuts on the lift.
  • Mira Series glazing beads that crack when removed. The Mira Series uses a low-profile glazing bead that does not like being pried. A homeowner or an installer in a rush will snap the bead, and suddenly a sash needs a whole new glazing kit. We use a bead tool sized for Ply Gem extrusions and we carry factory beads. It is a small thing that avoids a two-week parts wait.
  • Legacy 850 Series sashes with failed balancers after ten years. The 850 series has been out of production for a while, but there are plenty of them still in service in Palm Beach. The balancers were fine for the first decade, but the spring loses tension after that. We still source the OEM balancer when we can. When we cannot, we install a matched aftermarket balancer rated for the exact sash weight, and we tell you which one we used, so there is no surprise later.

Our Ply Gem Window Installation Process

Here is how a Ply Gem window installation goes when you call TruePane. No mystery, no vanishing act.

  1. 1
The call and the walk-through. A live person answers at (850) 801-5596 and we schedule the site visit. Dale Kessler or one of our senior techs walks every opening, measures twice, and notes the condition of the existing frame, the rough opening, and the exterior cladding.
  2. 2
The parts decision. For a replacement sash or hardware, we tell you the OEM part cost and the aftermarket alternative when one exists, side by side on paper. Some Ply Gem parts are worth paying factory price for. Balancers and certain locks, in our view, are not. You decide with the numbers in front of you.
  3. 3
Setting the frame. We shim the frame level and square on both planes before the first fastener goes in. On masonry openings in Palm Beach, we install into treated lumber bucks or concrete anchors, whichever the wall actually calls for. The frame is leveled, not forced.
  4. 4
Glass and sash, then the seal. We set the sash, then apply the interior and exterior sealant bead to the depth the manufacturer specifies. Too little sealant voids the weathertightness. Too much squeezes out and looks like a smudge. We aim for the bead a glazing instructor would sign off on.
  5. 5
The test. Every sash cycles open and closed at least ten times. We check the lock engagement, the weep drainage, and the reveal around the sash. If it binds, scrapes, or drips, it gets corrected before we leave.
  6. 6
The paperwork and the promise. We register both warranty layers in writing before the truck leaves, and you get a copy. Your Done Right Promise starts the day we finish.

What Ply Gem Window Installation Costs in Palm Beach

Here are the ranges we quote most often for Ply Gem work in Palm Beach. These include labor, materials, and disposal.

  • Single hung insert replacement, standard size: $450 to $650 per window. Existing frame stays, new sash and track installed.
  • Casement or awning window insert: $500 to $800 per window. Hardware and operator replacement add $40 to $90.
  • Full-frame replacement with exterior stucco work: $1,100 to $1,700 per opening. This is a tear-out, new buck where needed, new window, trim, and stucco patch.
  • Bay or bow configuration: $3,200 to $6,500 depending on projection and glass package. Engineering factors in for second-story cantilevers.
  • Sash or glass replacement only: $220 to $480 per sash for most Ply Gem series. Mira and Pro series glass packs run a little higher.

What moves the price up: second-story access, rotted framing, lead paint abatement on older El Cid homes, and custom glass packages. What should not move the price: a crew that shows up without a tape measure. Call (850) 801-5596 and we will give you a written line-item quote. Free, no surprise line items later.

Why Palm Beach Homeowners Call TruePane Windows & Doors for Ply Gem Work

We are not a franchise crew with a laminated sales pitch and a rotating cast of subcontractors. TruePane Windows & Doors has served Palm Beach County since 2008 through a craft lineage that started with Dale Kessler‘s father repairing jalousie windows in El Cid. Every Ply Gem window we install is backed by our Done Right Promise and The Keystone Standard: both manufacturer warranty layers registered in writing, durations stated, before the truck leaves your driveway. We also carry and install Andersen, Pella, PGT, so if Ply Gem ever stops being the right window for your home, we can quote the alternatives honestly. Background-checked, uniformed techs. A live person answers the phone at any hour. If the pane is not true, the job is not done.

What Neighbors Say About TruePane Windows & Doors

★★★★★

"Our bay window had rotted at the sill and two other outfits wanted to talk us into a flat picture window instead. TruePane rebuilt the opening and matched the original look. Neighbors have knocked on the door about it."

GGene A.
★★★★★

"Whole-house window replacement at 71 years old is not something you want to do twice. Dale walked the house himself for the quote. Crew was the same three men all four days, and the foreman knew every window by room."

PPat and Ray L.
★★★★★

"French doors to the patio, custom size because this house was built in 1961 and nothing is standard. Measured twice, three weeks to fabricate like they warned, and the install day they laid runners over my floors without being asked."

MMarie S.
★★★★★

"Impact windows on the whole house. They handled the permit, the inspection, and gave me a folder with every approval number for the insurance company. My windstorm premium dropped enough to notice."

BBill T.
★★★★★

"A casement crank had stripped and the sash was swollen shut. The technician, Ray, fixed the crank on the spot and only then talked about replacement for the three windows that were genuinely done. That is why the whole street uses them now."

EEleanor G.
★★★★

"Quote was the price, which after three other bids that grew legs was worth something. Double-hungs went in clean, they hauled the old ones, and the registration paperwork for the warranty came in the mail like they said."

DDorothy K.
★★★★

"Energy bill was the reason we called. They did not oversell - said the two worst walls of windows would do most of the work and we could stop there. Did those eight with the Low-E glass. August electric bill tells the story."

HHarold W.
★★★★

"Storm door and a new back entry door. Small job, but they treated it like one that mattered. Screws in the hinges are stainless, the sweep actually seals, and the invoice matched the phone quote to the dollar."
