PGT Door Installation in Palm Beach: What to Know First

PGT door installation in Palm Beach typically runs $1,400 to $9,500 depending on the series, size, and whether you’re replacing an existing door or installing new construction. Most PGT entry and French door installs finish in a single day once the door is on hand, though custom and arched units can stretch to two or three visits. We’re an independent PGT service provider, not a dealer showroom, which means we quote the work honestly, register both warranty layers in writing, and don’t mark up the door itself to cover overhead the way big storefronts do. If you already own a PGT door that needs setting, or you know which series you want and need it installed right, call (850) 801-5596 and we’ll walk you through the numbers over the phone.

How PGT Products Fail - and How We Fix Them

PGT builds a solid door, but Palm Beach humidity, salt air, and hurricane cycles expose weak points in ways a brochure won’t tell you. Here’s what we actually see on service calls:

  • WinGuard hinged doors losing their seal at the sill. The WinGuard line uses an interlocking aluminum sill that collects sand and shell grit, especially in neighborhoods like El Cid and Sunshine Park. Once that grit works into the weatherstripping channel, the door won’t seat flush and you get daylight at the bottom corner. We pull the panel, clean the channel, replace the seal with the correct OEM profile, and reset the sweep so it actually makes contact. Half the time, the door doesn’t need replacing at all.
  • Slammer series sag at the hinge side. Long-term, heavy panels on the Slammer and SpectraGuard series pull hinges out of plumb if the frame wasn’t shimmed properly at original install. You’ll notice the handle starts to drag or the door won’t latch without a shove. We re-shim the frame, reset the hinges, and torque every fastener to spec. If the frame is right and the glass is rated, the rest is just following through.
  • Roller tracks clogged with to palm debris on bi-folds. PGT pocket and bi-fold doors run on bottom rollers that collect everything from lantana leaves to sand drifts in Palm Beach after a hard storm. When those rollers bind, the panel jumps the track and it feels like the door is warped. It isn’t. We deglaze the track, replace the rollers, and reset the panel height so all panels travel evenly.
  • Old PGT aluminum frames corroding at the corners. Pre-2010 PGT doors used aluminum extrusions that don’t love decades of salt air. We see pitting and white corrosion blooms at the bottom corners, especially within a few blocks of the Intracoastal. If the corrosion hasn’t reached the glass seat, we can often restore the frame, replace the corner keys, and reseal. If it has, we’ll tell you straight that a new door is the honest fix and quote the replacement without upselling.
  • Weatherstripping compressing flat on north-facing doors. The rubber compression seals on PGT doors exposed to steady afternoon sun and salt air lose their memory after seven or eight years. The door still latches, but you’ll feel drafts in January and see humidity creeping in come summer. We replace with PGT-spec material, not generic peel-and-stick, because the thickness and durometer matter for a proper seal.

Our PGT Door Installation Process

Every PGT job follows the same sequence, whether it’s a single entry door or a full set of French panels:

  1. 1
The phone call. You call (850) 801-5596 and a live person answers. Not a voicemail tree. We ask what door you have, what it’s doing, and when you need it handled.
  2. 2
On-site measure and diagnostic. A background-checked, uniformed tech measures every opening twice and inspects the existing frame, floor level, and rough opening. We don’t trust the original measurements, even on a house built last year.
  3. 3
Parts decision, on paper. We walk you through OEM versus quality aftermarket parts side by side with prices. For warranty-sensitive repairs, we recommend OEM. For seals, rollers, and hardware on older doors where a stock part is weeks out, we’ll show you a comparable aftermarket option and let you decide.
  4. 4
The install. We set the frame true using shims and levels, hang the panel, and adjust until it opens with one hand and closes without a slam. Plumb, square, sealed, every time.
  5. 5
Test and warranty registration. We cycle the door ten times, check the seal with a feeler gauge, and register both manufacturer warranty layers in writing before the truck leaves your driveway. You get copies.
  6. 6
Cleanup and call-back check. We sweep the opening, haul our debris, and call you inside of two weeks to ask if the door is still behaving. The Done Right Promise covers us: if it isn’t right, we make it right. No paperwork, no arguing.

What PGT Door Installation Costs in Palm Beach

Here’s what we quote for common PGT scenarios, labor and materials included. These are real working numbers for this market, not national averages:

  • Single swing entry door, labor only (you own the door): $485 to $950
  • New PGT WinGuard or SpectraGuard entry door, furnished and installed: $1,400 to $3,200
  • PGT French door, two-panel, furnished and installed: $2,800 to $5,500
  • PGT bi-fold or pocket door, multiple panels: $3,500 to $9,500 depending on panel count and framing conditions
  • Arched or custom PGT door, new construction install: $4,000 to $11,000

What moves the price: door size, impact rating level, whether the existing rough opening is square (older Palm Beach homes rarely are), lead time on the order, and whether we’re dealing with a rotted buck or corroded frame that needs rebuilding first. We give upfront pricing on a written line-item quote. No surprise line items on the bill. Call (850) 801-5596 for a free estimate on your specific door.

Why Palm Beach Homeowners Call TruePane Windows & Doors for PGT Work

Dale Kessler grew up in El Cid and has been measuring, setting, and servicing doors across Palm Beach County for the better part of two decades. His shop instructors at Palm Beach State College were particular about sealant depth and frame tolerances in ways that still govern how we work. We treat a PGT door as a system: frame, panel, hardware, weatherseal. If any one element is out, the door fights you for years. Our techs work in your home the way they’d work in their own mother’s, which means square corners, honest answers, and no upsells. And if a PGT replacement genuinely isn’t the right call for your opening, we’ll quote Andersen, Pella, or CGI side by side on paper so you’re comparing apples to apples. We stand behind it, on paper, every time.

What Neighbors Say About TruePane Windows & Doors

★★★★★

"Our bay window had rotted at the sill and two other outfits wanted to talk us into a flat picture window instead. TruePane rebuilt the opening and matched the original look. Neighbors have knocked on the door about it."

GGene A.
★★★★★

"Whole-house window replacement at 71 years old is not something you want to do twice. Dale walked the house himself for the quote. Crew was the same three men all four days, and the foreman knew every window by room."

PPat and Ray L.
★★★★★

"French doors to the patio, custom size because this house was built in 1961 and nothing is standard. Measured twice, three weeks to fabricate like they warned, and the install day they laid runners over my floors without being asked."

MMarie S.
★★★★★

"Impact windows on the whole house. They handled the permit, the inspection, and gave me a folder with every approval number for the insurance company. My windstorm premium dropped enough to notice."

BBill T.
★★★★★

"A casement crank had stripped and the sash was swollen shut. The technician, Ray, fixed the crank on the spot and only then talked about replacement for the three windows that were genuinely done. That is why the whole street uses them now."

EEleanor G.
★★★★

"Quote was the price, which after three other bids that grew legs was worth something. Double-hungs went in clean, they hauled the old ones, and the registration paperwork for the warranty came in the mail like they said."

DDorothy K.
★★★★

"Energy bill was the reason we called. They did not oversell - said the two worst walls of windows would do most of the work and we could stop there. Did those eight with the Low-E glass. August electric bill tells the story."

HHarold W.
★★★★

"Storm door and a new back entry door. Small job, but they treated it like one that mattered. Screws in the hinges are stainless, the sweep actually seals, and the invoice matched the phone quote to the dollar."
